The Literary Gothic Site FAQ

This FAQ deals with site-related questions only -- that is, there's no information here that sets out to answer "content" questions such as "what makes a work Gothic?"

"Who's responsible for this site?"
That would be me. There are a few etexts posted here which have been submitted by other folks (all such etexts are appropriately credited), but this site was created by and is maintained by yours truly. For more information, see the bottom of the About LitGothic page. How this pertains to your evaluation or assessment of this website is also discussed briefly on the Citing this Site page.

"Is The Literary Gothic a 'peer-reviewed' site?"
No. For more information, see the Citing this Site page.

"If I quote from a page at The Literary Gothic, how do I cite it?"
Most of the pages here that are worth citing already have the appropriate MLA-style citation at the bottom of the page; just scroll down, select and copy the citation, and paste it into your Works Cited page. Whatever you do, don't use the web address (the "URL") you see in the navigation bar of your browser if you're viewing this site with frames. Why? See the Citing this Site page, which has more information and helpful links.

"The Gothic/ghost/horror novel I've written has just been published. Will you advertise it?
Not a chance. As explained on the About LitGothic page, this site deals only with works published prior to 1950. LitGothic does, obviously, advertise new publications, but only of pre-1950 works.

"I've just written a Gothic/ghost/horror story; will you publish it?"
Heck no. Read the answer just above — or, better, see the Submitting a Work to LitGothic page.
