Ancient Greek poet, or perhaps group of poets, credited with those timeless classics The Odyssey and The Iliad. The scene of Odysseus in the underworld, crouching over a pit full of blood and holding the crowding ghosts at bay with his sword, is, for my money, one of the greatest supernaturalist scenes ever.
