American writer, poet, editor, and publisher, perhaps best known (in Gothic circles, anyway) for his Arkham House publishing company, which specialized in horror, and for his championing of the works of H. P. Lovecraft. Much of Derleth's work lies outside the scope of this website.
Extensive biographical information, a select bibliography, links, and more; especially notable are several discussions of Derleth's work in the supernaturalist tradition, including one essay which examines Derleth's debt to Mary E. Wilkins Freeman.
