Beck, L[ily] Adams (Moresby)

c. 1870 - 3 January 1931

Irish-born author and world traveller; she spent considerable time living in Canada and, later in her life, in Japan, where she died. A vegetarian and devout Buddhist, Beck was well known for her interest in Eastern thought and religion. She was a prolific author of romances and adventure novels, even though she did not begin writing until later in her life, and used several pseudonyms including E. Barrington, Elizabeth Louisa Moresby, and Louis Moresby.
